I set my macbook to shut down at a certain time and when the time comes it never shuts down automatically. The box is checked and everything. any suggestions..

Are you running anything that may stop a log out such as a Word Processor or anything the prompts to save before quitting.

If so, close those programs before stepping away from you computer for the night.

Also, is there any reason why you just don't close the lid and let it sleep?
