Personally I use Google Translate to double check my rusty, schoolboy French. There are so many nuances and quirks in languages that I don't know whether I'd ever 100% trust an automated solution.

If you don't speak any French at all then you might want to look into using a human translator.

Yeah, I know. Okay for double checking that a word means what you think it means. Anything else I treat with extreme caution!

I just don't think computers (at the moment, at least) can handle the complexities, nuances and plain lunacy (in some cases) of human languages well enough to do a reliable job. Otherwise we'd be able to write code in English. ;-)
