What a sad loss of one of the pioneers of big music scores for films :( But fantastic that he was still composing and conducting his orchestra until very near the end, doing what he loved!

A nice best-of video to be found in this article:

Sad loss, so many terrific soundtracks, such wonderful music, and what an amazing composer.

A few years ago, I had the privilege to attend a live concert (the ticket - an excellent one - was a gift from my brother) given by Ennio Morricone and his orchestra.

Indeed.

The concert I got to see was in November of 2016. It was supposed to be in March, but Mr. Morricone fell ill so the concert had to be postponed. I remember thinking that it was not a good sign for a man of his age, but he did pull through and delivered a hell of a concert I'm still as glad to have witnessed as I was on that night. Magical stuff.

Sad news indeed.
So many great songs to choose from.
The most soothing of all to me is Deborah's Theme, with the lovely vocal from Edda Dell'Orso.
If there was ever just one song to be played at his wake or funeral, this one has my vote, if only for the title of the movie alone.

RIP Ennio.
