So I have an iPhone X and planning on switching to a data plan that offers 1.5 GB of data per month at 3G speed only. It comes with 3MB download and upload speed (yes its very crap speed). After I use my 1.5GB, I get unlimited data at lower speed (probably 2G), which is 64KB download and upload.
If I get an AppleWatch non-celluar and use my phones data for the watch via bluetooth, would this speed be too slow to use with the AppleWatch? What is your data plan like for your iPhone, that you use with your Apple watch (Amount and Speed?)
Mainly considering this plan because it is very cheap. Its Chatr (under Rogers), so service would be amazing.

I don't think your speed will be a problem as you're only loading text, data and very small graphics to the watch. Also music files are relatively small. I think back to the time people relied on 64k as their modem speed to the internet. Downloading text, graphics, music and data was fine at those speeds. If you were trying to watch a video, obviously another story.

My plan is 6 gigs LTE with Fido. I stay within those limits but it's almost 100% driven by my iPhone usage. This includes watching videos. The watch uses very little data comparatively. Keep in mind streaming a video is about 1 gig per hour. So with the type of plan you're talking about you really wouldn't be able to stream video (YouTube etc) to the phone.

I think you might find 2G too slow for your needs on the iPhone X though.

I got a $59/mo plan used in Australia. Have 15GB of data, so it should be enough for all usages I can possibly imagine except streaming videos and downloading lots of files. Since I don’t stream anything on Watch, 15GB is more than enough.

Your allowance is 10x the OPs he has 1.5GB.

If 1.5 is ok for your phone usage, it’ll be fine when you add a watch.
