Hello all, I was wondering if it is possible to have the enter/return button open a file or folder in finder instead of renaming it. thanks!

I'm not sure if it is or not, but the keyboard shortcuts that do this right now are Apple-Down and Apple-"o" There might be an app that changes this, but I'm not sure... you can change keyboard shortcuts for Finder menu items in Sys Prefs, but I'm not sure it'll override the action of pressing enter, which is not technically a menu shortcut.

Are you asking because you want to open files from the keyboard (without using your mouse) or because you are used to Windows conventions and want to retain them on your Mac?

For the former, you can use command-O from the keyboard to open the selected Finder item(s).
