entering a password for unace

I'm trying to open a .ace file that I have the password for, but so far I have not been successful. Sometimes there is a 'password: ' section on the app that comes upbut I can't see anyway of entering the password (I've tried just typing and it says timed out no password entered).
If anybody has used this program I would really appreciate an explanation.
