Is there a way to entirely disable Versions?

There are a number of documents that I don't want to save any changes on but occasionally I will vary a number or two on to confirm an idea. I don't want to have to deal with unlocking a document, making a duplicate, selecting the duplicate, making the small change AND clicking "Don't Save."

I know you can disable the Auto-lock feature from the Time Machine Preference Pane, but that doesn't stop Versions from saving the changes to the document at close.

I used to be able to just look at things really quick but now I have a almost daily reminder of Apple's poorly thought-out process.

So you open the document, make changes, and then select "Revert Document…" before you close it or quit. Pick the option to revert to the "Last Saved Version".

Thanks. I made a universal keyboard shortcut and that should work well enough as a work around.
