Entourage 2008 - 'Now Updating Contacts'

For some reason Entourage continually says 'Now Updating Contacts' in the bottom right corner, unless its doing something else (in which case it says whatever else it is doing), but it always defaults back to "Now Updating Contacts'.

In other words, it never seems to stop updating and just sit quiet. I think that this is slowing things down.

I do not have any sync services turned on.

Any ideas?
