Entourage 2008 stuck updating message list

Entourage seems to be stuck. I use it for two IMAP accounts and some pop3 ones. Evertime I open it it says "Updating Message List 467" in the bottom right corner. If I try and close Entourage I get an error saying it is still connected so I leave it open.
It has been open for 6 hours and has not changed it position. I closed it and reopened and still the same issue exists.
How can I stop this?

It sounds like Entourage is getting stuck on one particular message. Figure out which message it is, and then delete it via another method -- for example, via webmail. I've seen this happen if the message is malformed in some way, or if it's really big (such as a huge attachment).
