Entourage, office, switch identities

I think this is a fairly easy problem to fix but I couldn't find anything searching the forum.

My family and I use Entourage for email, so there are 4 identities. If I have one of the Office 2004 programs open and I try to switch identities in Entourage, it says I need to close all other office programs and then switch. Is there anyway to allowing switching of identites without having to close word or excel ?

It's a small problem, but one that occurs so often that it is a real pain.
