I work in a largely PC-based office, and only a few people (including me) have Macs. Our IT department pretty much knows zip about Macs. I use Entourage for email. However, I'm running into a problem that should have a simple solution--I can't figure out how the heck to change my Entourage password!? The logical place to do this would be under Account Settings, where there is indeed a password box... I typed in a new password and saved it, but when I attempted to log in with the new password, it wouldn't work. My account would still only open via the old password. What is the problem here? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

This is a long shot, but could there be a saved keychain password that's automatically used based on the old password? I also use Entourage, and I just glanced at my keychain utility, and I didn't see anything that was for sure for entourage, but it sounds like it could be the trick for you.

You mean the password to access email? You can't change that from within Entourage; that wouldn't make sense.

If a Windows user needs to change an Exchange password, then this can be done using Outlook. If a Mac user needs to change an Exchange password, then it can't be done using Entourage. The Mac user is forced to login to the Exchange server via Outlook Web Access or from a Windows computer to change the password.

Thanks for the replies and insight. I had no idea you can't change passwords within Entourage. I know I sound like a right idiot, but I don't know much about Exchange AT ALL. In any case--I logged into Microsoft Outlook Web Access (via email.mycompanyname.com) but still cannot figure out how to change the password. Where do I go? Sorry, I KNOW how dumb I sound. Thanks a million for the help!!!!!

Thanks a million, JohnNotBeatle! I appreciate the help. I feel a bit less like an idiot now, because it appears that I simply don't have the Password option. See the picture for what my options panel looks like... time to call IT and hope they can help, I suppose? But thanks again for everyone's efforts. Much appreciated anyway.

You may have to physically connect to the network; in the network logon or authentication you generally are presented with a change pw option. I used to have to use that method booting into Windows while attached to the network.

This option must be enabled by IT. The fact that it was not enabled is probably an oversight. Call them and ask them to enable it.

A similar problem

I use Entourage on an iMac OSX Snow Leopard. I have problems with it, but on the whole it works well. Last night, I had some sort of glitch with the computer. I could not access the web through either Safari or Firefox, and Entourage played up by refusing to accept my password (or any variation I might use). This morning, Safari and Firefox are fine, and I can access my BTYahoo account, but Entourage and Mail demand a password I don't have. There is, I gather from the above, no way of changing the password from within Entourage (or Mail, presumably). Help, please, if anyone knows how to solve this. I have restarted the computer, of course.
