Entourage won't hook up top my Hotmail account.

I have tried several times. Over and Over installing and reinstalling.

What am I doing wrong.

Could someone give me a walk through?

Don't you have to pay for an additional Hotmail service to access your mail in an external application?
 
You're kidding right? What should they be??!! Change the title of this thread to "I need help setting up Entourage with Hotmail." Have you tried the help section of the Hotmail website for the server settings???

Yes. I even went to the apple store and they couldnt get it to work either.
 
I thought that only POP3 services could be used with Entourage..? Hence only Gmail, and other hosted services... but not Yahoo or Hotmail... as these don't work on Apple Mail. Am I right?

I really don't know I was there over an hour and they were in the same spot as I was when I started.

I use to be able to use the mac mail program with the httpmail pluging. But I can't get it to work either That is what I used for years. Hence the change to entourage.

I dont get step 2. It doesn't give me a hotmail pop up.

I have been looking at this page for atleast a month and still nothing on it helps me out.

I have to go a diff route to set up an account and that way isn't working either.

Trust me I have went all possible directins with this before I posted this thread.

Are you setting it up as a POP, IMAP, or Windows Live Hotmail account?
You need to set it up through Windows Live Hotmail setup
Just note that by default, this way does not download any emails onto your computer, everything stays on the server. I'm not sure how to download them to 'On My Computer', though google might provide some help.

Your best bet is to start again if you haven't done this; Go to Entourage | Account Settings... (make sure Mail tab is highlighted and select Windows Live Hotmail. Follow the automatic setup.

You need a subscription to Hotmail Plus

According to the error in Entourage 2008:

To send and receive Windows Live Hotmail messages in Entourage, you must have a subscription to Windows Live Hotmail Plus. For more information or to subscribe, http://get.live.com/en-us/mailplus/features

Note: To use your Windows Live Hotmail account after you subscribe to Windows Live Hotmail Plus, you must quit and reopen Entourage.

I got it to work. I had to pay 20 a yr for the hotmail plus account.
 
POP3 is coming for free to Hotmail. It's rolled out in some European countries right now, and is coming to the rest of the world soon. I'm not on the Hotmail team so I don't know the exact schedule.
