I’m thinking of biting the bullet on a MBP to avail of the education offer with AirPods.

I’m thinking long term resell value, so I would be looking at 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM.

The 4 port MBP has those specs as standard so I think it’s better value for money.

What are peoples’ opinions?

Entry-level has 8th gen Intel CPU. The higher-end version has 10th gen Intel CPU for better performance, more RAM, and more memory. I was able to find the 10th gen unit for $300 more than the entry on a Best Buy sale. So I sent my entry-level unit back to Apple 10 days after I got it.

Resale-wise the 10th gen processor may make it a little better. But Apple Silicon is going to kill the resell values on these units regardless of configuration.

I would go for the stock 4 port model to be honest. For resale value, macbooks depreciate as fast as a sports car, so dont buy macbooks for their value just for your need. You can get 2019 15" for the same price as a 2020 13" as an example.

Play it smart. Education discount is still more expensive than the refurbished one from Apple(4 port model).
So you will take advantage of edu deal only with the base 2 port MBP.
