I am amazed by the fact that the new 17 inch macbook pro can get up to 8 hours of charge (which is probably exaggerated a little). I just bought a new 15" unibody MBP in October and I want much more battery life. Does anyone think apple will come out with removable high capacity batteries, or do they already exist with 3rd party retailers??

if you watched the keynote,then you would know the answer is no. to make a higher capacity battery they had to make it bigger. To fit the larger size they had to remove the components that make it removable. (i'm making the assumption that you are referring to higher capacity replacements for the 13 and 15, please forgive if that's wrong).
Now if you're talking in general, sure they will get better, with time. who knows how much time though?
that said i never remove my battery so i wouldn't mind a higher capacity non removable battery across the line.
