Having swapped to the mac, it took 10 days to get the printer & mac talking to one another, & I don’t think I would have had it not been for the help of a guy on the forum, emailing probably 20 times in one day, with help. I do not think I would EVER have got it working otherwise!

I use the 4880, with 17 inch roll paper. I have various canvas sizes set up in Photoshop & prepare all my images onto a 17x whatever canvas (typically 17x73inches) so have 2 10x8’s one above the other, with a small gap in-between.

I have 4 problems.

Firstly having swapped to a mac, I cannot find a way of changing the preferences (of the printer) to inches; it’s currently set to cm.

I ALWAYS want to print “borderless” & some days it will print away all day, fine without a problem. Then, for no conceivable reason, it will kick the job out as “no borderless this size”/”paper incorrectly loaded” I have the canvas itself set to 16.90 inches high. There should be no difference whatsoever between a job of 36x17 & another one of 73x17 – they are both the same width!

I have just been attempting to print a job 71 inches long, & it’s having nothing of it this morning! Within the PRINTER SETTINGS – PAGE SET-UP….I have tried…

Roll paper borderless retain size
Roll paper borderless banner

It IS now printing set to “Roll paper banner” and funnily enough it’s doing “borderless” one side, but not the other!

The printer IS capable of printing to the full 17 inch wide, so why does it intermittently tell me that it cannot print this as borderless? It did however waste a good 2 inches of paper either end!

If printing 17x, whatever with the images tightish to the edge of the canvas size, the printer leaves an inch or so of unprinted paper, then prints the image, but with about 5mm or so, unprinted at the beginning & end of the run.

When going into the print set-up in photoshop, for some reason (with the mac – didn’t happen on the old PC) the setting is always set by default to “printer manages colors” instead of my setting od “Photoshop manages colours”, with my custom profile.
