Epson Artisan 810 and Canon PIXMA MX860

I'm looking at either of these two all in ones. My sticking question is how do they all perform when faxing from OS X (10.6)? Seems the Epson only supports this on Windows and I'm not sure how the Canon functions. When you have open a document and select File > Print > PDF > Fax PDF... does it connect properly to either of these machines... or do you have to print the document out and run it through the AIO fax?
