Epson ET-5850 Scanning

A little help please...

I am using an Epson ET-5850 with a MacBook Air currently running Catalina.

I can scan to my MacBook over WiFi when initiating the scan from the Epson.

I cannot scan to my MacBook over WiFi when initiating the scan from the Epson and get a communication error on both the MacBook and the Epson. I find it very strange that "MacBook initiation" works and "Printer initiation" does not work.

Wondering:

1. Whether anyone else has the problem; and

2. Whether anyone has a fix (which is clearly the more important issue).

An update...

I connected added the Epson printer to a Windows laptop and was able to scan with both "MacBook initiation" and "Printer initiation" which means the above problems are Epson software related!

Worth noting I have had a lot of Epson Software related issues.
