2 weeks of so into the iMac changeover (from PC) & still loving it.

One problem that I could really get to the bottom of though.

I have an Epson 4880 large format printer and an R200. I also have a Mitsubishi die-sublimation printer.

The die-sub is up & running & working fine.

It took me a long time to get the 4880 working properly, having installed different versions of drivers and software, about 10 times, downloaded from various web sites & the bundled CDs.

I had both inkjets working fine for about 2 days, but now the R200 will not work. I also had a huge problem getting this working initially. I had a lot of help from a guy on a forum.

The R200, would not work but a couple of days ago, but (by chance) I found the gutenprint driver & using that all went well. One thing I have noticed is that at one point the printer icon (picture) was of an R200. It isn't now though, just a generic graphic of a printer.

Sending the job to the printer using the Epson driver, I get a message saying..... Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/rastertoescpll failed.

When using the gutenprint driver, the print queue showed that the printer was there & switched on, but it just would not print.

This morning, I uninstalled the R200 & restarted mac. Somebody had suggested using the Australian web site (Epson) So I look there for the R200 drivers & software, but there are none there, so downloaded & installed them from Epson UK site. I now cannot re add (not nesscearily the correct term) the printer via the system properties/printers box (as it doesn’t appear)

Is there a conflict between the 2 printers? Is there a reason why when one works the other doesn’t?! They both worked perfectly well together on the old PC. I could really do with both up & running, as they do 2 totally different rolls.
I have also noticed that the iMac is booting very slowly, compared with how stunningly quickly it did before.

The 4880, is now NOT WORKING EITHER! What is going on!

Looking in the “print queue”…it says “printer ready”

BUT, going to printer utility, it says…”Epson Printer utility 4 cannot be executed, the printer is not recognized or this software cannot function properly using the current connections”

I have both rebooted the computer & turned the printer off & back on.

Any advice much appreciated!
