Epson Scan ... File Size

Hello,

i'm using a MacBook Pro Retina 15" with MacOS 10.12.1 & an Epson PX720WD printer/scanner.

Scanning a regular 2 pages black & white document via "Printer & Scanner" creates a 30 MB pdf file.
When i do the scan on Windows 10 with the Epson scan utility with the exact same settings (300dpi) i get a about 900 KB pdf file.

Why is there such a big difference in sizing a pdf file?

Check the colour depth. Is one grey scale and at the other colour?

Both have the exact same settings.
