I have an epson 1240U scanner. Worked perfect in 10.3, but I just upgraded my parents' eMac to 10.4 (thought I was being nice), and now the epson scanner application doesn't work ("Epson Scan", the latest version 2.65), nor can I get any sort of separate TWAIN software for the 1240U to work--a last resort--with image capture.

The Epson site's latest downloads for the 1240U say max compatibility is 10.3.x ... what's the deal!? Tiger's been out for a while now.

Anyone know a workaround? All I need is some sort of TWAIN file so I can at least still use the scanner, regardless of whether the epson-brand scan application works or not.

On a related note, can anyone suggest the best brand for scan/multifunction in terms of CONSISTENT updates for mac? Epson seems to suck the pooch on this front. Is HP better? Canon? What's your take?

Cheers
