Hello! I just installed Sequoia 15.1 and got a message that my printer system extension was not compatible or something like that, it disappeared b4 I could snap a photo !! Anyway, I found the Epson drivers here: https://epson.com/Support/Printers/...650/s/SPT_C11CF47201?review-filter=macOS+15.x

I am still new to using Macos after a lifetime on Windows and I knew more about the OS and how to get around and check things. I know next to nothing about Mac! How can I confirm the drivers are safe to install? I don’t think we can assume that SW is safe just bc it’s from a company we know, things have changed! I checked the drivers on Virus Total and it showed no security issues. I checked the files on “Behavior” bc it’s a new thing that supposedly checks for Macos malware - in a sandbox. I really don’t understand any of it ; ) and I do not understand the results - there’s a couple of things flagged but I have no clue what they are or if there’s really a problem.

Is there a way for me to confirm the files are safe since they’re not from the App store? They’re probably ok, but I’d like to be sure. Any help would be much appreciated ! thanks! Donna

If so it is Apple's standard method of advising of an upcoming change, probably in macOS16 that Epson will need to do something. Nothing to worry about at the moment, I got it when installing the Epson driver for my ET-8500.

You don't actually need printer drivers for a great many printers which will use the Apple built in AirPrint protocol.

oh yes, that’s it, thanks! : ) so you’re saying I do not have to install any drivers for the printer to work, correct?

I couldn't say for about your ET2650 but you go to Settings > Printers and scanners > Add printer it should find your printer if it is connected to your network and offer to connect it by AirPrint. I cant recall the exact steps but very easy.

You can have both your printer connected by AirPrint and the Epson drivers and they will show up as two different printers so you can chose which to use. The options are different and the Epson driver offers utilities. But IME you can use the AirPrint driver all the time.

ok i will check it out thanks!

I added the Epson as an Air Printer. I see the two printers. I made the Airprint the default and was able to print wirelessly. I had been using the USB. ty for your help! Now I don’t have to download any drivers. : )
