I'm running Sierra and the scanner does work. If I scan directly from the scanner software it will eventually create a file and that makes sense. When I run the scanner from Photoshop CS6 the image is imported into CS6 but a file is also created. I don't want that, I want to create the file only in Photoshop. I can see no way to do this either in Photoshop or in the scanner software.

I just noticed another problem. I had run the scan settings app. All that does is test the scanner and allow an energy savings setting. I set the energy savings to 5 minutes and sure enough the scanner powered down. When I run CS6, it sees no scanner and the scanner does not turn on. There's no power button on the scanner. I ran both the settings app and the scan app (all apps for the mac) and they scanner does not turn on and they cannot communicate with the scanner.

How do I turn it back on?

Are the buttons on the scanner for functions like create a pdf or email the scan supposed to work on a Mac?

I'm starting to think Epson does not support the mac very well.
[doublepost=1485621981][/doublepost]I did some more looking at the manual and found the scanner does have a power button and it does turn it on. Then I fired up epson scan and it froze. I had to reboot to get it to work. So I tried powering off the scanner with the power button and it worked except I can't use the power button to turn it back on.
