Epson v700 scanner and Mountain Lion

Hey everybody, I just bought a used epson v700 and I cannot get my imac 2010 10.8 to recognize the scanner. I have installed the appropriate drivers both from apple and from epson but either way, when i start up my scanning software (epson scan) a popup comes up saying that the computer and scanner cannot communicate. Any help would be appreciated, I might have to install a partition with snow leopard on it to work the scanner properly. I know that 10.6 works with v700's...
