EQ my music

Is there a way to EQ my music coming out of my mac. For example adjusting the Bass. I looked in system Preferences but didn't find anything. I use iTunes as my primary music player.

You mean apart from the EQ in iTunes?

not exactly sure if this is the correct response, but in iTunes, hitting option+cmd+2 brings up the equalizer.
