I am giving my iPhone 4 to my girlfriend and would like to erase all settings so it is like new but I have the redsn0w tethered jailbreak on it. Would it work if I erased all settings. Would I just have to boot tethered if I do it?

On any jailbroken iDevice, you'll have to restore if you reset all content and settings.

Ok thanks. So would the best thing to do be use ifaith to save 5.0 stuff then erase all settings then restore back to 5.0?

Why do you want to stay on 5.0?
You can always restore with itunes to 5.0.1, setup as new and then rejailbreak with redsnow.

I was just going to stay on 5.0 just incase an untethered jailbreak comes out for 5.0 and not 5.1

5.0 and 5.0.1 are both untethered.

If you want, use iFaith to dump your SHSH blobs and APtickets locally so that you can make custom signed restorable firmwares. By doing this, you can restore OS5 back to your phone.

Really? That's good news. So I can go ahead and go to 5.01?

yes pod2g said it was safe to upgrade to 5.0.1 a while ago. Even though I'm still 5.0 myself.
