I searched the forums but couldn't find a specific answer to my question.

Facts:
Bought my first mac, 13" MBP. Came with iLife '09. Moved to Japan. Did NOT bring the 2 DVD's that came in the box (dumb, I know). Will purchase SL upgrade in Japan. Planning to back up with Time Machine before SL install.

Question:
Will my Time Machine backup be able to restore all my applications INCLUDING iLife 09'? I don't have my Leopard disks (including the one labeled "Applications") so if I mess up somehow, I guess I'm screwed. I'm trying to minimize the chances of this...

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Yes, Time Machine will restore your Applications including your iLife Suite, it is also on your second disc of your restore discs.

The OP mentioned that he/she doesn't have the restore discs at the moment. But as mentioned, Time Machine (if you haven't messed with its settings) should restore your EVERYTHING on your Mac once Snow Leopard is installed.

Corrode,

Just do the standard upgrade. It does an "archive and install" which will intelligently do a fresh install and then reinstall all your software.

Much better than doing all that manual stuff...
