Erase and install

Is it possible to do an erase and install on a 10.5.8. I have bits and bobs missing off this mac including disk utility . A guy i know said he can do this and install lion so long as i have an external hard drive to back up my files, also i would need to reformat my hard drive the manufacturer is iomega. does anyone now how i can do that.

As you are currently running Leopard(10.5.8), you may not be able to install Lion, dedpending on you Mac's specs. It would help if you could tell us which Mac you have and the processor fitted. Click on the Apple icon at the top left hand corner of the screen and then on About This Mac.

It's a 10.5.8 2.4 GHZ intel core 2 duo
