I have searched , but I have yet to find a cut and dry answer. Please help!

I have many many many little files and extensions, etc. that have accumulated on my Macbook over the past year. I want those gone. Simple as that. My question:

Can I Erase and Install and then restore everything from my Time Machine backup? Will all apps including Office still be there?

Will these process remove any unnecessary files on my hard drive or will they be put right back because I am restoring from Time Machine?

Thank you

Well I am a complete Noob but I'd be very confident that TM is not able to determine what "unnecessary " means to you so if those files are in any folders you have configured for TM, they will come right back unless you install the Psychic Beta Release and think really really hard at it when restoring :D

Why do you want them gone? What purpose would be served?

My reasons for doing it are irrelevant. I just needed to know if it was possible. Gracias though.

I figured rather than "restore" the entire system from TM, I could restore applications, e.g., Office, Transmission, VLC, as I need them. Oh well.

These are the responses I expected...
