erase & install wipe all HDD's

quick question

does a erase & install wipe all hds ?

on windows you can keep all hdds intact expect the os volume and so when you reinstall everything on the other volume are exactly same as you left it.

is it the same on osx?

You select the HDD where you want to install OSX
Any other HDDs are left intact

time to reinstall i think.. having weird slow connection on this MP for some reason when every other machine runs fine...
