Hi All,

If I erase my iPhone and set it up as new device. Will I be able to retain iOS 8.4 or will it fail the activation??

Thanks
Sal

If you try to restore it to 8.4 it will fail. You can only restore it to 8.4.1 or iOS 9 on Wednesday when it's supposed to be released. One other thing you could try is to use Cydia Impactor to return your phone to stock and then jailbreak again if that's what you intend to do.

After running cydia impactor and returning the phone to stock.
If I erase the iPhone within reset settings ,, Will it have any effect on retaining the iOS 8.4 when I setup the iPhone as new .. Will it activate ??

You cannot do an erase all on a JB iphone.
It will get stuck and you will need a restore it to the latest ios version with itunes.
If you use cydia impactor you will need to activate it once its done.
All you need in order to activate it is a sim from the carrier that its locked to or any sim if its an unlocked device.

That's what I did bud. Ran Cydia Impactor as advised. After Cydia Impactor was done erasing the phone. I was presented with the stock phone startup setup screen. Did all the steps. Usual it may take few seconds to activate message came up. As I did not switched off find my phone I had to enter Apple ID details. And voila all up and running.

Before re jailbreaking I did erase the phone within the reset settings just to make sure nothing was left behind by Cydia Impactor. Again as advised all I needed was sim to activate the phone.

All jailbroken now. Can't imagine an iPhone without virtualhome tweak.
