Hi!

Will it be fine to erase an iMac with the “Erase this Mac” option in the Find My app from my iPhone before selling it?

does this also mark the Mac as lost?

I wouldn't do that.

I'd first manually de-authorize it from iTunes, etc.
Then, sign out of iCloud.

Then, erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of the OS onto it.

It is a late 2015 iMac 5K running macOS Catalina.

I've already wiped the HDD using the Find My app on my iPhone and sold it few hours ago.

The reason I had to do it this way because I was away from home and I asked my friend to sell the iMac for me and he is not familiar with Macs to perform HDD wipe in the regular way (booting up with CMD+R).

Now I'm just wondering what I did was any less secure.
