Erasing 4S - Can I restore back to 7.0.2 or will it update to 8.1.2?

I'm giving my 4S to my aunt. If I reset "erase all contents and settings", will she be able to restore the 4S back to OS 7.0.2 or will it prompt her to automatically update to 8.1.2?

If you restore it with iTunes, you will only be able to go to the latest signed version of iOS. In this case, that is iOS 8.1.2.

An erase all on the phone will delete everything on the phone and will leave it on the ios version it is right now.
It will not update it to the latest ios unless you restore it with itunes.
Phone is not JB right?

Which option is it 'specifically' to retain the current version 7.0.2? It is not JB. Will it erase everything?

Wait… You're talking about, "ERASE ALL SETTINGS", the first one under RESET? This will erase all my contacts and photos. I trust my aunt and I don't store anything on my phone that's too private.

I'm going to do the same for my 5S as I'm selling that. But I believe I have to select, ERASE ALL CONTENTS AND SETTINGS for this?

Settings> general > reset > erase all content and settings

Once the ohone is done it will be completely wiped and on whatever software it was on before the wipe.

Thanks… If I opt to do an "ERASE ALL" instead to retain the current OS 7.0.2., will my aunt be able to configure the phone to her preference? I'm afraid that the latest update 8.1.2 may lag the phone which is why I'm asking.

Yes, off course.
Everything will be removed and she will be on the same iOS version and then she can set it up and install and load on it anything she wants.
