For some reason when I'm trying to erase a CD in Disk Utilities, after clicking the "Erase" tab, every button under it is disabled. Including the "Erase" button. I tried various CD-R's, what's the deal?

Not if it's a CD-R/DVD-R. CD-Rs are WORM media (Write Once, Read Many), no matter how hard you try or want to you cannot erase it using a CD drive once it's written. A CD-RW, on the otherhand, can be erased and rewritten up until the media fails.

it's worked a million times before..

I'll never seem to understand why people are so sarcastically rude online.

That post wasn't sarcastically rude.

I was just hugely impressed that anyone found the time to be able to erase 1,000,000 CD-Rs in one lifetime.

(This post, on the other hand, is sarcastically rude!)

It is the internet. People get to do and say whatever they want without any repercussions. Just ignore it if you think it is rude. But that pic is hilarious. Just try to see the happies coming out of the relaxed of us 'net users.

After a long day at work, seeing the O RLY owl made me laugh, how could that possibly be rude? :D

Yeah, the only way to erase a CD-R is to put it in the shredder. Or maybe in a fire. But you're not going to be able to write to it again.
