Erasing Content/Data

If you erase all content and data to reset the watch, does this erase OS 2 or keep it on there? I wasn't sure if it was tied to the phone so if your phone doesn't have watch OS 2 will the watch still have it or have to be reloaded to each phone it is paired with?

AFAIK it leaves the OS there, just erases your personal stuff/restores it to factory settings.

The watch stores very little. What it does store backup to the iPhone when you unpair it. Most of the data collected is moved from the watch to the iPhone constantly.
