erasing songs from itunes 7

I was playing around with it 7.0 and was trying to erase some dupes from the program. It allows you to drag them to the trash but they do not remove from the program. Any clues from anyone?

So if you select the song, hit delete, and choose 'move to trash' it doesn't work for you? It works fine for me.
