Erasing the recovery partition

How do you erase the recovery partition, if I boot from the Snow Leopard disc and then run Disc Utilty and wipe the HD, will that take the recovery partition with?

this implies also that you cannot perform a clean installation of lion with lion recovery assistant created with the apple utility, right? you always need to create a lion usb key...


if anyone could answer this doubt of mine I would be really grateful - I need to understand if i need to buy a 8g usb key or if the lion recovery disk I have created is enough to perform a clean installation
