Just bought a function key version of the 2017 13in MacBook Pro. I think the keyboard might be developing faults.

Frequently when I login to a programme or site after waking, the login will fail. I watched the keypress sequence a bit closer and saw that one or two of the keypresses would actually give a backwards character delete in place of the intended character - so the login would fail as insufficient characters have been entered. This happens at least once a day.

Today I saw that pressing keys would cause a jump out of the character entry box and cause an entry box restart. So it's getting worse.

It's as if the character I actually enter by the keypress isn't the character I'm asking for. Bad keyboard or something else ? Hacked keyboard ? To test this I'm going to run the same install using an external SSD on this 2017 MacBook Pro and a 2014 MacBook Air. This should isolate the keyboard.

Anyone else with a similar problem ?

Cheers.

You might try exchanging it if in the window, otherwise have Apple repair it.

Thanks. I didn't know that there were recognised problems with the keyboard. It'll have to be a repair as it was bought in June 2017.
