I'm preparing a new mac for my sister and sometimes the trackpad on it goes a bit nuts. So I got a trackpad visualization app and just left it open and then managed to catch on video what was happening.

Is this bad and can it be fixed easily? The MBA is from 2012 but was barely used. Has 181 charge cycles

A system this old could be a couple of things, including a bulging battery (more expensive to fix), bad track pad (usually less expensive to fix) or interference from another accessory (free to fix). For the last option, my mouse used to go crazy from time to time -- somehow the magic mouse in my backpack got switched on, and this was the cause. Turn off Bluetooth to eliminate this as a possible problem.

Thanks for your help. I don't have anything connected through Bluetooth(setup as a new system) and I think Bluetooth was off when I did the video.

How can I tell if it's a bulging battery? Could that even happen with such a low cycle count?
