Hi guys. :)

I backed up my old unlocked iPhone 3G to my PC and then did the Erase option in the Settings menu, because I want to restore it to factory settings so I can sell it.

I didn't know it was a mistake to do that, so I wondered why the iPhone was stuck at the Apple logo. I put it into recovery mode and tried to restore with iTunes but it gave me the error 1015.

So I try to follow this tutorial - http://www.allaboutappleblog.com/2013/11/a-perfect-fix-for-itune-error-1015-for.html
But my iPhone does not turn off. It's simply stuck on the "Connect iTunes screen". Following instructions to put it in DFU mode have failed.

What shall I do? Any help would be appreciated. :)

try this method of entering DFU mode

1. plug in device to computer with usb cable
2. hold the home and power button for 10 seconds
3. let go of the power button but keep holding the home button
4. after about 15-30 seconds, itunes will let you know that it has detected a device in recovery mode

at that point, you are now in DFU mode, and should be able to restore the device via iTunes

That's the thing. I did the same instructions over and over again, but the iTunes screen does not disappear. I recall doing some combination which put it in WTF mode, but redsn0w couldn't jailbreak, so I put it into recovery mode again.

no matter how long you hold the home and power button, the screen does not turn off?

do you have a non-working home/power button?

Both buttons are physically fine. It just doesn't go into DFU mode.

I did try holding the home, power and volume buttons at the same time but it only went into WTF mode for some reason.

Only the home and power button. No volume buttons

What is WTF mode?

I guess you mean safe mode?

Anyways for DFU you are waiting too long or too little to release the power button, cut your count by half, might take a few tries.
