Couple of weeks ago I started getting error code -36 on my imac when trying to copy images from my SD card to imac, there were a few files that just would not copy across at all, but most did, 1 at a time...
However now I cannot get any images to transfer from SD card to imac... Sometimes it sets off transferring the files, then slows down before coming to a grinding halt ! SD icon on desktop goes off briefly then re appears & I get an error message telling me the disk was not ejected properly, then we get " The finder can't complete the operation because some data in "file number".ARW can't be read or written. (Error code -36) "
If I OK the error message it goes away, but nothing has transferred to imac from the stop point. I can transfer files one at a time and get a certain amount of success before same error message...
I have two Sony's A7II & A7RII & a Canon 5D3 & a Canon 7DI The A7II & both Canons give me no problems at all, files transfer to the imac without a hitch, problem is confined to the A7RII. I have swapped cards around between cameras, same result, I have used an external reader & the one built into the imac. The imac is running the latest version of High Sierra and the camera firmware is up to date at Ver. 4.0. imac is late 2012 27" 3.2GHv i5 processor with 32GB ram and SSD drive as the start up drive.
As you can see on the screenshots, quite often get to 8.4Mb before it spits the dummy out !
I have done a camera reset and re initialise - Same problem
Any help gratefully accepted, have also sent this query to Sony & to Apple see if they have any ideas,
Thnx, Normski
Update to the above... Just ejected card from imac and plugged into mac book pro and all files transferred, no problem, and I tried it three times, no problem...
Only thing I have found on Google is Dot clean which I have done to all the drives including SD card, apart from the ssd which contains the os...
Further update :- the 54 files I copied from SD to mac book pro have transferred across to the imac over the network without a hic-up, all be it a little slow at least it's a temporary work around...
