Error 40

I keep getting Error 40 every time I try to restore my iphone 3g. One day I woke up and saw that my iphone 3g was in DFU mode. I try numbers ways to try getting out of DFU but no luck. So I then decided to restore my phone but it did not work.
Anyone have this problem and gotten out of it? The iphone still turns on and all the buttons work but its just keep going back into DFU mode.
