error code 26 whilst copying from external disk- damaged frames?

Hi, trying to copy a largeish final cut event event folder ( 28gb) from an external drive to my macbook - fails around half way through with the following message;

The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “Frame 0 - 1023” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)

(tried verify disk and repair disk - all ok)
