I decided to backup four old IDE drives (2x80GB, 1x40GB & 1x320GB) each containing their own "Application" "Library" "System" and "Users" folders in their entirety onto my new 1TB internal SSD with macOS High Sierra. Each backed up drive is placed inside its separate folder and labeled to reflect the drive name of the original.
Judging from the file dates I would hazard a guess that the macOS version is 10.2 Jaguar all up to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
When I check the file sizes I get are either Zero or a file size that is smaller than what I was expect. But when I check the file sizes of each folder inside it reports the expected sizes.
Anyway, I tried copying the files from the 1TB internal SSD to an external 20TB drive.
That is when I get "Error code -42". What does this mean? The top 10 links on google that mentions this error code are spam sites that want you to install their software to fix that error. I am wary of those sorts of apps as they might hijack my computer and hold it for ransom.
While trying to transfer my files to a Synology DS918+ NAS I get a "Error code -50"
