Error code 8003, not trash or time machine related

Trying to copy files from a hitachi external hard drive that I have read and write permissions for to my mac and I keep getting the error. I have no yet used time machine and my trash is empty.

I googled and all I am finding is time machine or trash related error 8003 issues. I have copied from this ext HD before to my mac.

Same problem

I have the exact same problem. I simply cannot copy/paste on the entire hard drive. No problem with emptying the trash bin/downloading files, but i cannot copy from external hd/usb sticks onto my macbook AND copy/paste between folders...

I'm in trouble and in desperate need of help.
