Mac specs:
- pro 13 inch retina
- 3.1 ghz intel core i7
- 16 gb 1867 mhz ddr3

External hard drive:
- WD my passport ultra
- 1 TB

I am attempting to copy about 1,800 raw photo files all in one folder (about 50 gb) from my external drive to my computer drive. However, something apparently is happening with the drive and the way it is reading these files, because it won't let me copy them and gives me this error message:

I know that it's a significant number of them it's not reading correctly, so it's not a situation where there's just like one bad one I can delete and then be good to go. Is there any way I can get these photos copied to my computer?

Could you tell us a little more about the drive...

Is this a FAT32/ExFAT volume?
Was the original import performed on a Windows PC or an older Mac?
Does the same error happen always with the exact same photos, or do the photos that have this issue vary?
Have you tried the Dot Clean yet?

What I would do:

1. Get a pencil and some paper
2. Try selecting and copying the files "50 at a time"
3. Keep notes

This is going to take some time.
But it will make it MUCH easier to identify which files are good, and which are not.

It is exfat, the original import was performed on my 2012 macbook pro however I've been working with them/discovered this issue on my 2015 macbook pro. It's about 1,800 photo files and it varies amongst the files, it's not all of them. I'm not sure how many total. I'll check out dot clean.
