When I try to install iTunes 9 I get the following message:

"System extension cannot be used

The system extention "/system/library/extensions/CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update"

itunes installs anyway - even if i leave the message there without clicking "OK"

has anyone else received this? or know what it is?

P.S. I have verified my disk and repaired the permissions - yet still pops up.

I received a similar message but for a different file. It seems to be related to old drivers that are no longer compatible (i'm not sure if this only affects Snow Leopard). Try to think of any devices you have ever installed drivers for which would be related to the first 2-4 letters of the filename "CDSD". Perhaps something: "Canon Digitial"?

No problem - apparently

I got this same error, but then read somewhere else that it's related to
Roxio's SpinDoctor. If I understood the message, the file was deleted, so
you shouldn't have any problems. However, I just looked in that folder, and
still have the file. And iTunes 9 runs fine . . .

Go figure . . . ;^)

Same problem here

It first happened with the 9.0 update and again with 9.0.1. I agree it is related to Roxio Toast but I think only v10. It did not happen on my 10.5 with Toast 8. I am going to do a clean reinstall and try to skip the spin doctor app.
