Error message on HP officejet J6480

Ok so i need some help with my printer. I have gotten all of the new hp driver updates from apple and still every time i try to scan with my officejet i get a error. It just says its a unknown error? any help or advice?? i have the printer hooked up to my MBP 13" running snow leopard.
