Error when adjusting PB screen?

I´m running a PB 15" 1.25GHz. I´ve downloaded all the current upates, and I´ve run into a problem.

If I go to System settings and fiddle with the setting for the screen, the screen will just die(!). I can barely make out some borders on the blank screen, but I hav to cycle power to make it come back on... :( Anyone seen this before or might have an idea how to fix it?
