Hi everyone,

This is my first new thread, but I'm having a problem with my month-old MacBook Pro.

I was waking up my MacBook after a few minutes of sleep, and the screen would stay on for about 2 seconds before turning off, so I rebooted.
Now, when I close the screen and open it again, it takes a few seconds to start up, then it shows me a very odd log-in screen. It has my old (default) Lion wallpaper as a background, and it has a cancel button at the bottom-centre which, when clicked, turns my screen black, but I can still hear processes.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
(Also, if anyone else has had a similar, unexplained problem with their MacBook, will Apple replace it? It was purchased of the online Apple Store.)

That *sounds* like it's just set to require your password when waking from sleep. Check the Security system preference pane.

(the part where the screen was going black sounds like a backlight issue, which would likely be either the screen itself or the inverter, depending on the model)
