Hi,
I just bought a toshiba canvio 3.0 2tb 2.5'' external hdd. Today I connected it to my mbp OS X 10.8.1 and succesfully managed to transfer a 700MB movie. (I think it was FAT32)
Then I opened utility disk to make 2 partitions and it gave me this error:
"Partition failed with the error:
Unable to write to the last block of the device."
Finder is no more able to find the volume nor utility disk. What can i do?

Reformat the entire drive. Partition it without transferring anything first. Why are you using FAT32?

it was fat32 from toshiba, I didn't do anything prior to transfering the movie.
btw I tried "erase>mac osx extended/ms-fat>erase" and it happens the same thing, same error message above...
